Who is David Prutton tipping for victory in the Sky Bet Championship in the midweek fixtures? Find out here…
Hull vs Stoke, Tuesday 7.45pm – Live on Sky Sports Football Red Button
Two pretty convincing defeats on the bounce now for Hull City, and three in four for a side that might be levelling out a little after a very good start.
It hasn’t been the opening Alex Neil would have wanted in charge of Stoke, with just a point from two games. This represents a good opportunity to get a first win on the board, but I think it will be a draw.
Prutton predicts: 2-2 (Sky Bet odds)
Swansea vs Sheffield United, Tuesday 7.45pm – Live on Sky Sports Football Red Button
Swansea claimed a much-needed win last time out against QPR, just a second in what has been a pretty underwhelming start to the season for Russell Martin’s side. It is something to build on.
Sheffield United are going very well at the top of the table, taking four wins from their last five games. They look full of goals and tight at the back. Away win for me.
Prutton predicts: 0-2 (Sky Bet odds)
Preston vs Burnley, Tuesday 8pm – Live on Sky Sports Football
It is hard to know what to make of Preston due to the simply bizarre lack of goals in their games so far. They finally conceded last time out, and it led to a 1-0 defeat because they simply cannot score at the other end.
Burnley are having less trouble putting the ball in the back of the net. Vincent Kompany has a very new squad that is starting to gel, but they aren’t quite there yet. I’ll tip a goal-heavy (for Preston!) draw.
Prutton predicts: 1-1 (Sky Bet odds)
Norwich vs Bristol City, Wednesday 7.45pm – Live on Sky Sports Football Red Buttton
Norwich have marched right up the table off the back of five wins. All of a sudden a third promotion in as many attempts looks very much on the cards.
Bristol City are on a great run of form. Whether they can maintain it remains to be seen, and this is their toughest challenge yet. Norwich just look too strong right now, though. Home win.
Prutton predicts: 2-0 (Sky Bet odds)
Reading vs Sunderland, Wednesday 8pm – Live on Sky Sports Football
It really has been an excellent run for Reading. Every time they suffer a defeat they seem to bounce right back and prove their doubters – myself included! – wrong.
Sunderland are without Ross Stewart for the foreseeable future, which is a massive blow as he has been one of the standout players of the season so far. Can they cope without him? I think they may struggle.
Prutton predicts: 2-1 (Sky Bet odds)
West Brom vs Birmingham, Wednesday 8pm – Live on Sky Sports Football Red Button
It has been a case of too many draws in games they ought to have won for West Brom, and that is why they are languishing in the bottom half of the table.
Birmingham got an important win at Preston last time out to arrest a real slump in form ahead of a trip to their near neighbours. It could be a bit of a grind here, but I think the Baggies will sneak it.
Prutton predicts: 1-0 (Sky Bet odds)
