Data companies Bayes Esports and GRID team up for Esports World Cup

Esports data companies Bayes Esports and GRID Esports have partnered to support multi-title esports event Esports World Cup, taking place across July and August in Saudi Arabia. 

According to a release, both companies will provide official data solutions for the event which they said will help drive ‘match integrity and community engagement worldwide.’

The partnership between Bayes Esports and GRID comes shortly after Bayes Esports secured a partnership with the Esports World Cup in June. Both GRID Esports and Bayes Esports are the official data partners for a notable catalogue of companies from the esports world, ranging from publishers and tournament organisers to bookmakers. 

Just last month, Bayes Esports partnered with US fantasy sports provider PrizePicks. Meanwhile, GRID and Ubisoft launched the Rainbow Six Siege esports Data Portal earlier in the year. In a press release, GRID and Bayes Esports noted that by uniting, the companies can ensure ‘the Esports World Cup’s reliability, integrity and innovation.’

Charles Hanley-Nickolls, Chief Procurement Officer of GRID, commented on the collaboration: “The Esports World Cup is unmatched in its ambition and scale in our industry, and their vision for the future is equally impressive. It’s a great pleasure to collaborate with Bayes Esports on this project to help provide integrity services and deliver community access to official data from the event.

“Bayes Esports and GRID both bring unique strengths to the table, and this combined offering will be a first in the industry; we’re excited about the potential of this partnership.”

The Esports World Cup is a multi-title esports event that will feature 21 games and an aggregate $60m (~£) total prize pool, the largest in esports history. The event has secured a range of commercial partnerships in the lead-up to the event, including Pepsi, TikTok, Adidas, LG Ultragrear and DAZN

The Esports World Cup is funded by the Saudi Arabian government, part of a major recent investment drive by the Saudi government into esports. The government’s funding for the event has come under criticism from sections of the esports community due to the country’s human rights record.
