FatShark has announced that its upcoming co-op shooter, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, has been delayed until spring 2022 due to challenges caused by the pandemic. The announcement comes from Fatshark’s CEO and co-founder, Martin Wahlund, over on the Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Twitter account. Due to challenges caused by the pandemic, the game is still not at the level of quality the team hoped for, and as such, will not be releasing this year as originally planned. The statement does mention using the time to develop new systems so the game can be supported “for years to come,” so that’ll be interesting to learn about closer to the time of release. As for the new launch window, we’ll have to wait until spring 2022 to get our hands on it.If you’re looking for a co-op survival game to play in the meantime, then 2021 has got you covered with the likes of Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Back 4 Blood, and Rainbow Six: Extraction, which are all confirmed to release in the coming months — that should (hopefully) keep you and your pals busy while you wait.
