CubePilot Global recently participated in the bidding process for the assets of Nordic Unmanned, including their valuable patent for coaxial drone technology. Our intention was simple: to acquire the patent and immediately release it under an open-source license, making it freely available for use by the entire drone community. We believe that open access to this technology will foster innovation, collaboration, and ultimately, accelerate the advancement of coaxial drone development.

Unfortunately, our bid was unsuccessful. The assets were acquired by another party who intends to continue operating the company – which is fantastic news for the staff and a positive outcome for the future of Nordic Unmanned. We wish them all the best in their endeavors.

However, the future of the coaxial drone patent remains uncertain. We sincerely hope that the new owners will not pursue restrictive patent enforcement strategies. Such actions would stifle innovation and limit the potential of this promising technology.

To the new owners of Nordic Unmanned: We want to reiterate our commitment to open innovation. Our bid remains available for your consideration. If accepted, CubePilot Global guarantees to immediately dedicate the coaxial drone patent to the public domain, ensuring it is freely accessible to researchers, developers, and enthusiasts worldwide. This would unlock immense potential for the growth of the drone industry and benefit everyone involved. We urge you to consider the long-term benefits of open-sourcing this technology and welcome a conversation about how we can facilitate this.
