Creative Assembly Looks Set To Return To Offline RTS Games Following Hyenas Cancellation

SEGA has suggested that Creative Assembly will return to developing offline real-time strategy games following the cancellations of Hyenas earlier this year. Speaking during a financial results briefing presentation recently, Haruki Satomi, president and group CEO of Sega Sammy Holdings, seemed to imply that Creative Assembly didn’t simply have the experience to tackle Hyenas, which was an online first-person shooter.Each studio has its own strengths and weaknesses, but the favorable winds of the early COVID-19 period, coupled with the strong performance of each title, led us to adopt a strategy of accelerating more, even in areas where those studios have not tried yet for further growth. However, some studios did well and some did not, so we have decided to focus again on the strengths of each studio.
