Update:We have updated the story to make it clear that the canceled Project Dragon game is not from Toys for Bob. Nicholas Cole says they’re “two totally separate canceled projects at two different studios.” Original story: While we’re waiting with bated breath to dive into the Crash Bandicoot 4; It’s About Time achievements via Xbox Game Pass, a former Toys for Bob developer has suggested that Crash Bandicoot 5 was reportedly canceled. Toys for Bob was apparently also working on a new IP codenamed Project Dragon, which has also now been canceled.Crash Bandicoot 5 was reportedly canceled at Toys for BobOver the weekend, former Toys for Bob character and illustration artist Nicholas Kole revealed that a new IP at their current studio has seemingly been canceled after three years of development, despite “internal attempts to save it.” The game was reportedly being developed under the codename Project Dragon, which Cole later clarified wasn’t Spyro, but said, “If you ever liked anything I’ve done, you’d have loved this one.” According to Kole, “the embargo on the whole body of work has been lifted,” so we should expect to see the game’s concept art appear sometime in the future. Interestingly, when answering a fan questioning if the canceled project was a Spyro game, Kole said that a Crash Bandicoot game was canceled at some point. “It is not Spyro,” Kole said. “But some day folks will hear about the Crash 5 that never was and it’s gonna break hearts.” Toys for Bob was acquired by Microsoft as part of the Activision Blizzard acquisition last year, but it split away from Activision back in March to pursue a future as an independent studio and has since signed a publishing agreement with Microsoft for an unannounced game.
