Counter-Strike 2 Maps Overview

Sep 28, 2023

Here is an overview of all Counter-Strike 2 Maps in the game right now.

Counter-Strike 2 was released yesterday, and it already made it into headlights because players spent an insane amount of money on cases just a few minutes after it became available. Needless to say, the game will be the go-to option for tons of players in the next couple of weeks.

Even though the CS 2 beta was live for a few months, not all players had the chance to try out the new Counter-Strike 2 maps. That’s why this article will go over all currently available CS2 maps you can choose from. Don’t forget to check some of the things you may not know about the game before you start playing.

General Information

As you probably know, most CS2 maps are improved when compared to CSGO in one way or another. Some of them look brighter than before, whereas others are completely new. You can divide them into different subsections (we’ve already covered them briefly in some of our previous articles). However, we know that it’s important to know more, which is why it’s time to learn more information about the Counter-Strike 2 maps.

Touchstone Maps

The first group of maps is known as “touchstone maps”, and the thing that differentiates them from the rest is that they have been a part of the game for ages. It’s safe to say that these titles have successfully survived the test of time. That’s why they will be among the CS2 maps pool we will have access to.

What’s even more interesting about them is that they remain relatively the same. The biggest changes are cosmetics and they are related to the brightness levels, which are higher than before. Some players may not like that, but others will appreciate it.

These are the Counter-Strike 2 maps that fall into the Touchstone section:

Expect more in-depth guides about each one in the next couple of weeks.

Overhaul Maps

The second category of CS2 maps that we want to share more information about is known as Overhaul. These maps are completely different than they were in CSGO, as well as before that. Valve decided to take full advantage of the new Source 2 engine and change a lot of things about it. As a result, the Overhaul Counter-Strike 2 maps have new textures, better lighting, new places to hide, and much more.

At the time of writing, only 2 maps fall into this category:

We expect to see other options on the list as time goes on because Valve will try to make Counter-Strike 2 even more interesting.

Updates Maps

As their name suggests, these ar weather maps that received different kinds of updates in Counter-Strike 2. With that said, these updates are not that drastic because they would’ve been in the Overhaul category.

These two CS2 maps are taking full advantage of the new source and have way better graphics. If you check them out, you will find better lighting effects and changes to certain areas of the map. Some players may not be fans of every change, but others will like that there are tons of new things.

All CS2 maps

Like in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, CS2 will have different kinds of modes that you can choose from. Some maps are available in each one, whereas others will only be available if you play a specific alternative. Here’s an overview of what to expect.

Bomb Defusal, Hostage and Deathmatch Maps:

  • Shoots
  • Office
  • Canals
  • Shortdust
  • Italy
  • Baggage
  • Lake

Active Duty CS2 Map Pool

  • Dust II
  • Anubis
  • Ancient
  • Inferno
  • Vertigo
  • Nuke
  • Train
  • Overpass
  • Mirage

These are probably the most important Counter-Strike 2 maps because they are the ones that were a part of CSGO’s competitive pool. Speaking of the devil, you may notice that some options are no longer available, such as Anub is and Cache.
