Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion is headed to console later this year, and if you’re in the mood for a spooky descent into Japanese horror, a spine-chilling location to explore, and terrifying monsters, this might be just the game for you. Corpse Party 2 preorders are now live for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation. There are two editions to choose from, including a limited edition from Amazon and Best Buy.
$50
Featuring new characters, a new setting, a terrifying new curse, and a brand-new retro-inspired art direction, Corpse Party 2: Darkness Distortion follows three high school friends as they explore the Amare Est Vivere Hospital to see if a local urban legend is true. Haruka Nanami, Nemu Takanashi, and Maria Hitsugi are looking to boost their subscriber counts while investigating the mystery of Ayame’s Mercy, an ancient curse that sends them into a dark realm after they accidentally trigger it. Together, the trio have to work together to avoid the vengeful spirit of Ayame Kirishima and other supernatural horrors from the hospital’s dark past.
Corpse Party 2 is expected to launch this fall. Standard edition preorders for PlayStation and Nintendo Switch are available to preorder for $50.
$80
For $80, you can get Corpse Party 2’s Ayame Mercy Limited Edition. This limited-edition version of the game comes with a reversible cover, a 64-page art book, an art card, an “evidence kit” containing items from the game, and a “candlelight” housing a blue LED. It’s all wrapped up inside of a very creepy but cool Amare Est Vivre “Medical Kit” metal outer case.
The first Corpse Party game was released in 2021 and quickly became a cult hit for its unnerving pixel-art and psychological horror. This new game wouldn’t look out of place on a classic PlayStation console, and combined with the Japanese horror aesthetic that made the original game so memorable, this new entry in the series looks like a cure to narcolepsy with its frightening content.
