A new update arrived to Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone to make some weapon balancing adjustments during Call of Duty’s The Haunting event. The patch notes include changes that specifically affect weapons in multiplayer, while others will impact Warzone and DMZ only. Here’s everything that changed with the October 23 update.
On the multiplayer side, two popular submachine guns are nerfed. The Vasznev-9k received a reduction to close-range damage, and the ISO 9mm has reduced far damage range. Previously underpowered submachine guns are now buffed, with the Fennec and the BAS-P both having an increase to mid-damage range.
Season 6’s TR-76 Geist looks heavily nerfed with a reduction to close-range damage, as well as reduced arm, leg, and torso location damage. While the patch notes details several decreases, it does mention an increase to the gun’s long-range damage amount. Additionally, the Kastov 762 and M4 assault rifles both received an increase to close-range damage.
Two overpowered shotguns are nerfed. A damage reduction hits the Lockwood 300 for the Maelstrom Dual Trigger attachment, 12 gauge ammo, and the Dragon’s breath rounds, while also affecting the Bryson 900’s 12 gauge ammo and Dragon’s Breath rounds.
On the Warzone side, the popular Kastov 762 and TR-76 Geist assault rifles are nerfed. The Kastov 762 has decreases to close-mid damage, as well as reduced head, neck, and upper torso manage multipliers. The TR-Geist has decreases to close-range damage, close-mid damage, mid damage, as well as a reduction to head and limb damage multipliers.
A major nerf hits the Lockwood 300, but this only affects the Maelstrom Dual Trigger and 12 gauge ammo, with a reduction to close-range damage, close-mid damage, mid damage, mid damage range, and mid-far damage range.
The update includes various bug fixes for The Haunting event, including an adjustment for when the Butcher could appear frozen if killed during an execution animation. It also corrects an issue where players could get stuck under the ship near Sawah Village in the nighttime version of Al Mazrah.
The full patch notes can be found below, as shared by Activision.
The Haunting is live in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone until November 6. Make sure to check our guides for getting full rewards in the Soul Capture event and Operation Nightmare.
