Clix no longer has a support-a-creator code.

Professional Fortnite Battle Royale player Cody “Clix” Conrod has lost his Support-A-Creator (SAC) Code privileges after posting an inappropriate tweet. The Twitch superstar and top competitor confirmed the news on Twitter late Wednesday night. Clix had just finished competing in the DreamHack Cash Cup Extra tournament, where he and teammates Timothy “Bizzle” Miller and Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf finished in 19th, splitting $600 evenly.

Clix soon learned that his Creator Code was no longer active. He initially thought it was a result of previous wager match rule breaks. However, he discovered that a tweet deemed unprofessional forced Epic Games’ hand.

The Offensive Tweet

It should come as no surprise that the Fortnite community is of a younger demographic. Teenagers essentially dominate the competitive scene, in particular, with Clix being one of its top players. The 16-year-old player tweeted a message late on May 11 that would probably draw a laugh from his fan base, but not from Epic Games.

The tweet itself is not worth quoting here, but Clix did acknowledge it before deleting the message entirely. The NRG Esports representative issued an apology in hopes of receiving his code again in the future.

“This was the reason it was disabled, I thought everyone would take it as a joke but I understand it i’m representing a company I shouldn’t [sic] of tweeted it. Hope to get it re-enabled.”

Clix did not divulge whether Epic Games had contacted him directly or discussed the discipline with him. He’s found himself in hot water before, and the company’s recent rule enforcements likely played a role in this decision.

More Discipline and Warnings from Epic Games

Epic’s handling of the Fortnite scene has changed significantly over the past few months. The developers recently warned players about violating terms of service (TOS) after prohibiting wager matches and subscriber customs.

Epic directly contacted Clix and threatened to ban him should he continue wagering. He also insulted Epic’s Chief Creative Officer (CCO) Donald Mustard on Twitter earlier this year, which the company allegedly asked him to delete.

Impact of no Creator Code

Now, he loses his Creator Code which represents a line of revenue for many Fortnite players. Epic defines the SAC program on their website.

“In Fortnite accepted Creators will receive $5 USD (or the local currency equivalent) for every 10,000 V-Bucks spent by players who elect to support them in-game. This applies to free V-Bucks that players have earned as well as any V-Bucks they’ve purchased.”

Considering the number of fans Clix has on his side, he’s likely losing thousands of dollars as a result. He may try to appeal Epic’s decision and work something out, but it certainly doesn’t look promising. The whole situation is a cautionary tale to those under the spotlight. There’s no telling who could be watching or what consequences could occur.
