City 20 Roadmap is here for the first part of the game’s journey through early access.
City 20 is an interesting title, one that fans of sandbox RPGs will surely find a spark in. The game is still very early in the early access phase, but we now have a look at the plan going forward. The best way to describe City 20 is as a life sim set in a dystopian, non-specific, but very Eastern European-feeling place. NPCs have their own lives, you impact them but they don’t just act on what you do. You start in a small “house” that’s yours, well sort of. You’re left to tackle the world via quests as you go.
The game really does leave you to figure it out, your map evolves as you earn things that would make it work better like a compass, etc.

As for the Roadmap, it has some good stuff that’s worth checking out.
October: Bug Fix Update
First up are the obvious bug fixes to help make the game more stable and more playable.
November: NPC Update
Next, in November, we get our first “new” items added to the game. Smarter AI is a big thing for a game that relies so heavily on how NPCs act, so that’s a welcome thing to see.

December: Private Property Update
December rounds at the year with some privacy, and who doesn’t like privacy.

- Armoured doors
- New secured areas
February: Post Atomic Update
February gives us some fall-out from the post apocalypse as we start to see radioactive areas and pollution show up.

- Area and water pollution
- Poisoning system
Up to 1.0 (Update timings to be confirmed at a later date).
1.0 does not have a date yet, but it does sound like we are not in for a years-long early access period as we’ve seen with some titles. Given how much is in the 1.0 notes below, we suspect there might be a fair gap between whatever update comes before 1.0 and when that actually drops, but it’s a long way off regardless.
