The Chicago Bulls have gotten off to an incredibly fast start but that doesn’t mean their roster is set. Reports are they’re open to trading Coby White.

KC Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago said in an interview with Hoops Hype that the Chicago Bulls could be open to trading third-year guard, Coby White.

“If a deal presents itself where they can add a big man, I certainly think that’s something they have to consider given the size concerns for this roster,” said Johnson.

The Bulls, while 4-0 to start the season, have lost bigs from last year’s roster including Daniel Theis and 7-footer Lauri Markannen. Outside of Nikola Vucevic, the only player on the roster getting significant minutes at center is Alize Johnson, a 6-foot-8 power forward.

White has yet to play this year as he’s still recovering from a shoulder injury. He was the seventh pick in the 2019 draft and looked to be a big part of the Bulls’ rebuild, averaging 13.2 and 15.1 points per game in his first two years respectively.

How many guards do the Chicago Bulls need?

This year’s team has gotten considerably more guard-heavy with the offseason additions of Lonzo Ball, DeMar DeRozan, and Alex Caruso, along with the draft selection of Ayo Dosunmu.

Johnson, although he said there’s a possibility that White will be traded for a big, says that he could still be an important piece for the Bulls when he returns from injury.

“I think he’s still got a pretty big role because bench scoring has been a huge issue. I think the way Billy Donovan is coaching, he’s staggering DeRozan with the second unit. I think those two guys playing together could do some damage with that second unit,” said Johnson.
