Cheyanne Buys is the fighter with a big opportunity in front of her at UFC Vegas 33.
UFC Vegas 33 is set to occur on Saturday from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada. Looking at the card, there is one individual who stands out as a fighter to watch as the UFC continues to look for individuals that fans will rally around, for better or for worse. Cheyanne Buys is the fighter to watch for UFC Vegas 33.
Buys is scheduled to appear on the main card, two fights before the main event. This is an important distinction because as fighters move up the card, that represents their potential value to the promotion. Buys is in a position to gain a lot of screen time if she pulls off an impressive victory against Gloria de Paula.
The booking of this fight tells a lot in the idea that the UFC has a lot of hope in Buys. She’s coming off of a defeat to Montserrat Ruiz back in March. That match is probably remembered more for the post-fight pushing and screaming when Buys accused Ruiz of spitting on her. For that victory, Ruiz was moved to an even earlier preliminary fight against a feared striker in Amanda Lemos which did not go her way at all. Buys, on the other hand, is moved up the card and booked in a fight in which she should come in as the favorite.
Cheyanne Buys has an opportunity to build her name
With that placement, Buys has the potential to build interest in her fight career. The UFC is looking to rebuild some of the women’s divisions with new names that fans will want to see. Buys can capitalize off of that opportunity with a strong performance on Saturday.
De Paula is a fellow alum of the Dana White Contender Series, but she’s also coming off of a defeat. Her last appearance was against Jinh Yu Frey where she was defeated via unanimous decision.
