Bellator 265: Cheick Kongo vs. Sergei Kharitonov official weigh-in results.
We’re now just a day away from Bellator 265 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, SD, featuring a pair of heavyweight MMA veterans clashing in the main event, as Cheick Kongo takes on Sergei Kharitonov.
Kongo had won 10 of 12, including wins over former champions Alexander Volkov and Vitaly Minakov, when he challenged Ryan Bader for the Bellator heavyweight championship in the main event of Bellator 226. That bout went to a no-contest after Kongo was hit with an accidental eye poke.
Kongo returned at Bellator Paris in October, dropping a split decision in a rematch with Timothy Johnson.
Kharitonov’s second brief stint in Bellator a couple of years ago saw him score knockout victories over Roy Nelson and Matt Mitrione, but he was TKO’d by Linton Vassell at Bellator 234.
Kharitonov competed in two bouts outside the Bellator cage in 2020, knocking out Fernando Rodrigues Jr. and Oli Thompson.
Weight miss cancels planned title eliminator co-main for Bellator 265
The co-main event was scheduled to feature Adam Borics taking on Jay Jay Wilson in a potential featherweight title eliminator.
Those plans, however, were scrapped at the weigh-ins after Wilson missed weight by 4.4 pounds.
Wilson has now missed weight for three of his last four schedule bouts, which includes this scrapped bout with Borics.
Per Bellator, Logan Storley vs. Dante Schiro will now serve as the co-main event, and the main card will proceed with four fights.
