The new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition sees Nvidia introducing not only a new cooler design, but also a tiny PCB. We had the chance to get our hands on the new graphics card at CES, and the PCB is so small that it fits in the palm of your hand.

The RTX 5090 release date isn’t far away now, and we’ll be able to share more details about the new Nvidia GPU shortly. In the meantime, however, we thought you’d like to have a closer look at the card itself, as well as the GPU and GDDR7 memory, which you can see in these photos we’ve just taken from CES, where we’re roaming the halls.

Nvidia has been shrinking the size of the PCBs for its graphics cards for a while now, but this is the smallest one we’ve seen. There’s pretty much just enough room for the massive GPU in the middle, surrounded by its 32GB of GDDR7 VRAM, and that’s about it.

All that VRAM is also mounted on the front of the card, with none of it on the back – the rear of the PCB only sports basic circuit components, solder points, and a connector. You can also see the 16-pin power connector on the top edge of the card.

That’s all there is to it – it’s about as minimal as you can get for a graphics card, which is remarkable considering the processing power and memory capacity on offer.

The new PCB is accompanied by a new cooler design, which sees this card occupying just two slots – it’s a far cry from the massive high-end graphics cards we usually see. Nvidia is keeping the inner design of its new cooler under wraps for the moment – all we can reveal for now is that it has two fans on the front, vents on the back, and this little PCB in the middle.

The RTX 5090 is expected to be the best graphics card when it launches at the end of January 2025, offering not only a new GPU, but also support for Nvidia’s new DLSS 4 tech, which includes multi frame generation.

There will be other, cheaper options in the range, though, and you can find out more by checking out our RTX 5070 guide, for details on the mid-range $549 option, and our RTX 5080 guide.
