Here’s a recap of the penultimate day of CDL Major 3 Qualifiers.

The Call of Duty League continued its journey towards Major 3 with the final week of qualifiers continuing with day two tonight. Some of the best teams in the league went head-to-head, and we saw four incredible matches with major implications for Champs qualification.

Atlanta FaZe 3-1 Los Angeles Guerrillas

Atlanta FaZe suffered a 3-0 defeat to Minnesota ROKKR last night, and usually, they come back with more fire than ever in their next match. However, this time they were completely dominated on Bocage by the Los Angeles Guerrillas as they closed out a 250-156 victory. Huke was dominant, as he put up 33 kills and a 1.65 K/D, but this was more a display of a complete breakdown from FaZe than brilliance from the Guerrillas.

However, while they were blown out in map one, the Atlanta FaZe responded stronger than ever on Desert Siege Search and Destroy for map two as they won 6-1. The entire Atlanta FaZe roster looked excellent as they tied the series, and looked to be back in the game. The Control then also went the way of Atlanta FaZe. While it went back and forth throughout the game, FaZe closed it out 3-2 with aBeZy and Arcitys putting up 32 and 33 kills respectively to take a 2-1 lead in the series.

The series was then closed out by a 250-193 Tuscan Hardpoint victory by Atlanta FaZe. Cellium may have suffered in the previous maps in the series, but in the final map he dropped 24 kills and a 1.41 K/D to top the leaderboard, and close out the series for FaZe in a 3-1 result.

Toronto Ultra 3-1 London Royal Ravens

Toronto Ultra was the worst team in the game in Hardpoint at the start of the year, however, this map one was their sixth Berlin Hardpoint win in a row with a 250-198 victory. CleanX was exceptional, putting up 33 kills as Toronto Ultra took a 1-0 lead in the series. Toronto Ultra continued their dominance with a 6-1 Berlin Search and Destory victory. CleanX was incredible in this map too, earning full streaks to put his team on series point and 2-0 up in the series.

The London Royal Ravens clutched up to take a round five victory on Tuscan Control and stop a 3-0 sweep from the Toronto Ultra. Afro was exceptional as he put up 37 kills and a 1.28 K/D as the Royal Ravens only just secured defense for the final round and it paid off with a win. Toronto Ultra closed out the victory with a 250-158 Tuscan Hardpoint win with an extremely well-rounded performance from the whole team as they closed out the win 3-1.

LA Thieves 3-0 Boston Breach

The LA Thieves have been fairly inconsistent recently, however in map one of this series Octane went massive with 34 kills and just 11 deaths, topping the leaderboard in almost every category. This put the LA Thieves 1-0 up in the series and maybe one of the most dominant performances we’ve seen from a single-player all year. The Thieves then strolled through the Search and Destroy with a 6-0 flawless win where Envoy didn’t die a single time. Envoy’s 9/0 Search and Destroy gave the Thieves all the momentum they needed to go into the Control and win 3-0 there too as they took the series 3-0.

New York Subliners 3-1 OpTic Texas

The New York Subliners has looked great recently, but OpTic Texas are without a doubt the best team in the game. However, in map one, it was the Subliners that came out on top with a 250-166 victory with Crimsix putting up a 1.56 K/D as he took down his old team. The Search and Destroy went the same way too, with New York taking it 6-5. However, this was a very close match as OpTic Texas nearly pulled off an impossible comeback, but NYSL had the ice.

OpTic Texas then went on to win the Control and continue their excellent record in Control this year with just two losses. This victory saw Dashy drop 33 kills and a 1.65 K/D, and could have pushed OpTic through to begin the reverse sweep. However, they couldn’t do it as the New York Subliners took them down in a 250-224 Tuscan Hardpoint. Even though they were outslayed, the Subliners played the hills better and took the series 3-1.
