Here’s everything that went down on the second day of the second week of Major 2 qualifiers.
The Call of Duty League continued the second week of qualifiers for Major 2 with day two last night. With some upsets and big performances here’s everything that went down on the second day of week 2 of Major 2 qualifiers.
Atlanta FaZe 3-1 London Royal Ravens
Atlanta FaZe started this match in dominant fashion, winning map one 250-194 on one of the Ravens’ best maps, Gavutu. Arcitys popped off in this match, putting up 40 kills and stealing the spotlight from his usual SMG duo. After gaining streaks during the first hill, Arcitys continued to roll through the Ravens and close out the map. Atlanta FaZe took a 2-0 lead in the series following an extremely dominant 6-2 Bocage Search and Destroy. This was possibly the best FaZe have looked all year and showed their strong practice following their loss to Seattle Surge last week.
The London Royal Ravens stopped FaZe’s bid for a 3-0 sweep with a 3-1 Gavutu Control win. Afro and Nastie both put up 21 kills, and the Ravens took the map barely even breaking a sweat. Unfortunately for the Ravens, Atlanta FaZe were back to their best in map four, winning 250-236 on Tuscan. Yet again, streaks were earned early on by aBeZy, who utilized them perfectly to take the series 3-1.
New York Subliners 3-1 Paris Legion
The New York Subliners made a controversial roster change ahead of week 2 of Major 2 Qualifiers, dropping Clayster and bringing in PaulEhx. However, being 0-13 in Hardpoint so far this season, something needed to change. They began this series with their first Hardpoint win of the season, with HyDra and Crimsix both dropping 40 kills. In Map two, NYSL took this momentum through, winning 6-1 and completely dominating.
Paris Legion got themselves back in the series through the map three Control with a 3-1 win. Paris completely dominated this map, outslaying NYSL by 22 kills. However, as the old saying goes, you wait forever for a Hardpoint win and two come at once! NYSL took the series 3-1 following a second Hardpoint victory in the same series, 100-point clubbing Paris and getting themselves off rock bottom in the CDL.
OpTic Texas 3-0 Florida Mutineers
OpTic Texas have been on point ever since their Major 1 win. In this matchup, both teams were currently undefeated in Major 2 qualifiers, however, it was OpTic Texas who came out on top. In map one, OpTic took a 210-193 win on Bocage. With it coming down to the game clock, it was a tightly contested map but it saw OpTic come out with a 1-0 series lead.
The Search and Destroy also went the way of OpTic, with even performances across the board. Finally, OpTic closed out the series and completed the sweep with a 3-2 Tuscan Control, however it wasn’t easy for them. The Mutineers came close to stealing the final round, however, OpTic stopped the push with just seconds left, securing the win.
Boston Breach 3-2 Toronto Ultra
Boston Breach came out and won the first Hardpoint in this series in dramatic 250-247 fashion. Nero was on another level, involved in 89 engagements throughout the map, putting up 51 kills. Toronto Ultra replied with a 6-2 Search and Destroy win, clutching up multiple times to take this important map, and tie the series 1-1.
Toronto Ultra took a 2-1 series lead through a 3-2 Control win. Here, Insight took over, putting up a 1.59 K/D and putting his Ultra team on a series point. However, all momentum was lost when the Breach absolutely dominated on Gavutu Hardpoint in map four. Boston began the map with a 125-0 lead and finished by narrowly 100-point clubbing Ultra with a 250-99 win. Boston continued their excellent performances in the Major 2 qualifiers, heading to 3-0 with a 6-2 win in map five, taking the series 3-2.
