CD Projekt Red has announced it is working on the next instalment in The Witcher video game series, which will “kick off a new saga for the franchise.”The new game will utilise Unreal Engine 5, and CD Projekt Red says it’s taken this moment to announce that it will be moving from its REDengine to Unreal Engine 5, beginning a “multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games” that “covers not only licensing but technical development of Unreal Engine 5, as well as potential future versions of Unreal Engine, where relevant.” CD Projekt will also “closely collaborate with Epic Games’ developers” to help tailor the engine for open-world experiences. Other than the fact that there is a new Witcher game in development, CD Projekt hasn’t shared anything else about the game. “At this point, no further details regarding the game — such as a development time frame or release date — are available,” the developer says. CD Projekt Red also confirmed it would still use REDengine for Cyberpunk 2077’s upcoming expansion. What do you hope to see from CD Projekt Red and this new Witcher game?
