We have some bad news for those of you who enjoyed working through the Capcom Fighting Collection achievements: Capcom Fighting Collection 2 won’t be coming to Xbox. It’s not the only classic brawler to bypass Xbox consoles either, as we’ve seen a couple of other Capcom fighting games skip the platform this year as well.Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is the next fighting game to skip XboxThe Capcom Fighting Collection 2 was announced during the recent Nintendo Direct and launches on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2025. It features eight 2D and 3D fighting games from Capcom’s extensive library, including Capcom Vs. SNK: Millenium Fight 2000 Pro, Capcom Vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millenium 2001, Capcom Fighting Evolution, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, Project Justice, and Plasma Sword: Nightmare of Bilstein. It’s a neat selection of games, but unfortunately, it won’t be coming to Xbox. We’ve seen several classic Capcom games and collections skip Xbox to launch on other platforms in recent years, including ports of Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection Arcade Classics, SNK Vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos, Mega Man Battle Network Collection, Monster Hunter Stories, and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. At this point, it doesn’t surprise us too much when new ports skip the console, but this one stings a bit more considering we already have the first Capcom Fighting Collection on Xbox. The reason many of Capcom’s games skip Xbox is reportedly due to the company’s MT Framework engine, which is rumored to hamper Capcom’s efforts to port its older titles to Xbox’s ERA system. There could be a glimmer of hope, however, as Windows Central’s Jez Corden — who has been a reliable source for insider scoops — has commented on a post about Capcom Fighting Collection 2 skipping Xbox saying, “They’re working on it.” While it’s far from a confirmation that we’ll finally see some, if not all, of these ports arrive on Xbox in the future, we’re hopeful it’s an issue Capcom and Microsoft can work out sooner rather than later. While it was disappointing news from Capcom, Konami treated us by shadow-dropping its Castlevania Dominus Collection on Xbox during the show, which packs in three classic games from the popular franchise.
