Fans have been screaming for a new Dino Crisis game for years, and we might just get what we want, as Capcom has announced plans to revive some of its dormant IPs. Earlier this year we had a chance to dive into the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster achievements, while The Game Awards 2024 saw the company reveal Onimusha: Way of the Sword and an Okami sequel.There could still be hope for Dino Crisis fansCapcom plan on “reactivating dormant IPOnimusha: Way of the Sword launches on Xbox in 2026An Okami sequel has been announced”In addition to regularly releasing major new titles each year, Capcom is focusing on reactivating dormant IPs that haven’t had a new title launch recently,” Capcom recently told investors. “The company is working to further enhance corporate value by leveraging its rich library of content, which includes reviving past IPs like the two titles announced above, in order to continuously produce highly efficient, high-quality titles.”Onimusha: Way of the SwordDuring The Game Awards last week, Capcom surprised us all with an announcement for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which will be the first new game in the series in over 20 years. It’s a dark fantasy hack-and-slash game set at the beginning of the Edo period in Kyoto and sees you playing as an Ono Gauntlet-wielding samurai attempting to stem the tide of creatures known as Genma, which have invaded our world via the clouds of Malice. We’ve still got a while to wait, but Onimusha: Way of the Sword will launch on Xbox Series X|S sometime in 2026.Okami sequelAs for the Okami sequel, little is known, but Platinum Games co-founder and Okami director Hideki Kamiya has returned to direct the upcoming game, along with several other members of the original development team.It’s being worked on at Kamiya’s new Clovers studio, and will see us embark on another action adventure as Amaterasu in a Japanese-inspired world. We don’t know the platforms Okami will launch on nor yet a release window, but it’s exciting to know that a fresh game is on the way.Earlier this year, Capcom rolled out a survey asking players which dormant IPs they’d like to see remastered or remade.
