Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant both made weight a day before their Nov. 6 super middleweight full unification bout. Here are the numbers.

There were no surprises on Friday, Nov. 5, the day before the Canelo Alvarez vs. Caleb Plant Showtime pay-per-view fight card. Both men came in at or below the super middleweight limit of 168 pounds.

The WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight champion Alvarez came in at 168 pounds. His IBF title counterpart Plant weighed 167 pounds. Those numbers are on point for both boxers. Alvarez and Plant weighed 167.5 pounds in their last contests.

The crowd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, where the fight will take place on Nov. 6, favored Alvarez. There was a contingent of Plant fans, but they were heavily outnumbered.  Alvarez is a global star, so he usually draws a massive crowd wherever he fights.

Plant is hoping that a victory over Alvarez will allow him to overtake Alvarez’s place and the big name in the division.

The Alvarez vs. Plant weigh-in drew a large score of fans and celebrities. Boxing greats Mike Tyson and Julio Cesar Chavez were in attendance, as was 2008 NBA champion Paul Pierce. The event had that special fight feel.

Alvarez and Plant took part in a face-off of sorts. They were separated by promoter Tom Brown and the scale. They jawed back and forth, but it was hard to tell what they were saying. Both looked pumped up for their matchup.

Showtime’s Jim Gray interviewed Plant and Alvarez following their staredown.

“Saturday night you guys are going to have an undisputed champ and his name is Caleb Plant,” Plant told Gray.

Alvarez’s response was more subdued.

“I say ‘you will see tomorrow,” Alvarez told Gray. “It’s time. I don’t need to say anything. It’s time.”

Will Alvarez extend his power hold on the super middleweight division, or will Plant emerge as a pound-for-pound talent? Tune into Showtime pay-per-view on Nov. 6 at 9 p.m. ET to find out.
