The Montreal Canadiens are still alive in the Stanley Cup Finals thanks to Josh Anderson’s overtime goal in Game 4.
With Josh Anderson’s heroics, the Montreal Canadiens fought off elimination on Monday night, denying the Tampa Bay Lightning the chance to sweep the 2021 Stanley Cup Final.
Just under four minutes into overtime, Anderson fired home a loose puck from a ridiculous angle after Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy stick-saved Cole Caulfield’s attempt.
It was the second goal of the night and fifth of the 2021 NHL Playoffs for the 27-year-old right-winger. The 3-2 victory helped Montreal avoid becoming the first team in over 20 years to get swept in the Cup Final.
Montreal avoids sweep in Stanley Cup Final
There’s still a long road ahead for the Habs, who are trying to become the first Canadian team to hoist the Stanley Cup since 1993. Now down 3-1 in the series, the Canadiens will head back to Tampa Bay, where the Lightning will look to complete their repeat in Game 5.
As the lowest seed to enter the 2021 NHL Playoffs, it’s been something of a miraculous postseason run for the Montreal Canadiens. Do they have a little more magic in them to force a Game 6 against the defending champs? Don’t miss the action on Wednesday night in Florida.
