Activision will begin with a beta rollout of the voice chat moderation system for its most recent Call of Duty games before the system releases in full alongside Modern Warfare 3 on November 10.Activision outlines the “next leap forward” in its efforts against toxicity Call of Duty’s voice chat moderation system uses Modulate’s ToxMod “AI-Powered voice chat moderation technology,” Activision says. Activision will manage the system, and says voice chat will be “monitored and recorded for the express purpose of moderation.” You can turn off in-game voice chat if you don’t want your voice moderated. The system will be able to spot hate speech, discriminatory language, and bullying, and will be able to “enforce against” anything that violates Call of Duty’s Code of Conduct. Activision reiterates that this system works in conjunction with the systems already underway from Call of Duty’s anti-toxicity team, such as text-based filtering. This AI-powered voice chat moderation system will kick off with a beta rollout in North America for Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone on August 30, with a full release alongside Modern Warfare 3 on November 10.”We ask our Call of Duty players to continue to report any disruptive behavior they encounter as we work to reduce and limit the impact of disruptive behavior in Call of Duty,” Activision says. “Teams across Call of Duty are dedicated to combating toxicity within our games. Utilizing new technology, developing critical partnerships, and evolving our methodologies is key in this ongoing commitment.”
