Call of Duty Champs 2023 is right around the corner, so it was time for the participating teams to finalize their lineups.

The 2023 Call of Duty League is coming to it’s end, as only the Championship remain! The last Major of the Call of Duty League concluded on the 28th of May, with New York Subliners becoming the Champions of Stage 5!

After the event the 8th CDL Championship teams have locked in, with Atlanta FaZe, OpTic Texas, New York Subliners, Toronto Ultra, Los Angeles Thieves, Minnesota RØKKR, Boston Breach and Seattle Surge making it to the last tournament of the Modern Warfare II Season, while Los Angeles Guerrillas, Florida Mutineers, London Royal Ravens, and – even though they fought extremely hard – Las Vegas Legion failing to qualify. Yesterday, the official Call of Duty League Twitter and Facebook accounts have shared the lineups of the squads qualified for Champs, so we finally know who we can root for in the ultimate Call of Duty event!

The lineups of the Call of Duty Champs 2023 teams

Atlanta FaZe

  • Tyler “aBeZy” Pharris
  • McArthur “Cellium” Jovel
  • Chris “Simp” Lehr
  • Austin “SlasheR” Liddicoat

The most successful team of Call of Duty, the winners of the Stage 2 Majors and the best team in the regular season of the 2023 CDL will return to claim another title after failing to defend their crown in the 2022 CDL Champs – can Simp and co. do it this time?

OpTic Texas

  • Brandon “Dashy” Otell
  • Anthony “Shotzzy” Cuevas-Castro
  • Cuyler “Huke” Garland
  • Daniel “Ghosty” Rothe

OpTic Texas have a lot to prove this time around, as they didn’t secure any Major titles this year – but they got to the finals in both Stage 3 and Stage 4. With Huke and Ghosty, they should have a shot at 1st place, provided they can stand up from the failure that was the Stage 5 Major.

New York Subliners

  • Paco “HyDra” Rusiewiez
  • Matthew “KiSMET” Tinsley
  • Cesar “Skyz” Bueno
  • Preston “Priestahh” Greiner

The only squad which managed to win two Majors this year, New York Subliners are one of the top contenders for the Champs title. After winning Major 1, they managed to end the regular season on a high with securing the first place of Major 5. They also have HyDra among their ranks, who is considered to be one of the best players currently.

Toronto Ultra

  • Tobias “CleanX” Juul Jonsson
  • Jamie “Insight” Craven
  • Charlie “Hicksy” Hicks
  • Thomas “Scrappy” Ernst

The addition of Hicksy elevated the team of Toronto Ultra. While they didn’t have a bad start to the season, they were finishing outside of the top 3 in both Major 2 and 3 – but after the young English lad joined, they secured the title in the Stage 3 Major. Sadly, Ultra didn’t manage to live up to the hype they received afterwards, but the Championship is the best time right the wrongs of the second half of the 2023 CDL Season.

Los Angeles Thieves

  • Zack “Drazah” Jordan
  • Kenneth “Kenny” Williams
  • Sam “Octane” Larew
  • Dylan “Envoy” Hannon

The Champions of the 2022 Call of Duty League season return to defend their title against the 7 contenders. Kenny and his teammates had a successful season of Modern Warfare II, as they made it to the finals of Major 2 and managed to seal the deal in Major 4. While they didn’t have the hottest run in Stage 5, they made it to the top 6, so they should be a team to look out for at Champs.

Minnesota RØKKR

  • Kevin “Fame” Bonanno
  • Dillon “Attach” Price
  • Ben “Bance” Bance
  • Cameron “Cammy” McKilligan

RØKKR have tried many permutations of their five-man roster, swapping out Attach for Fame, then Afro to get Attach back to the starting roster. The lineup above seemed to be the one that works best, as the Minnesotan team finished 5th in the Stage 5 Major after only making it to the top 6 in Major 4. While RØKKR didn’t make it to any finals or won any CDL events, they always put on a show in high-stakes matches.

Boston Breach

  • Joseph “Owakening” Conley
  • Ben “Beans” McMellon
  • Kyle “Kremp” Haworth
  • Eric “Snoopy” Pérez

The newest team of the Call of Duty League did something extremely bold before the start of this year’s CDL Champs – they swapped a veteran player, Reece “Vivid” Drost for an up-and-coming star, Snoopy, who has been a member of Breach Academy since April, but played for a number of Challenger and Amateur teams since June 2020. While Snoopy hasn’t won any Challenger events, he has been the topic of many discussions because of his explosive playstyle. Kremp, who have joined the main lineup of Breach in April has worked out, so while it’s a bold move, maybe Snoopy is the key to Boston’s success.

Seattle Surge

  • Lamar “Accuracy” Abedi
  • Makenzie “Mack” Kelley
  • Amer “Pred” Zulbeari
  • Daunte “Sib” Gray

The team of Seattle Surge has been together since the end of the Black Ops Cold War season, managing to win the Stage 3 Major of the Vanguard-era. They started out great in the MWII-year as well, making it to the final of the Stage 1 Major, where New York Subliners beat them. Sadly, they couldn’t get close to that performance in the rest of the season – however, they did finish 1st in the Major 3 Qualifiers, and got to 3rd place in the first half of Major 4. This secured them the last spot of Champs, but it all came down to the last event of the season, which is a bit too close to comfort. Nevertheless, Seattle Surge will be the last team trying to win it all this year – hopefully, Pred and co. make the best of it.
