While we already knew Black Ops 6 was on the way as the next Call of Duty game, more details on it have been leaked. Ahead of the Xbox and CoD showcases scheduled for today, the Xbox Store page for the game went live, complete with what appears to be a release date–October 25, 2024–and more.
Black Ops 6 is a “spy action thriller” that takes place in the early 1990s. Alongside what sounds like a typical campaign, there will be a multiplayer mode launching with 16 new maps, 12 of which are core 6v6 maps alongside four more Strike maps for 2v2 or 6v6 play. That’s notable after last year’s game, Modern Warfare, largely recycled existing maps.
More notably, round-based Zombies returns, with two new maps available at launch. More maps and “groundbreaking experiences” will be coming to both multiplayer and Zombies at some point post-launch.
An open beta for Black Ops 6 is coming sometime ahead of launch, and you can guarantee yourself early access to it by either preordering a digital edition or subscribing to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or Game Pass for console.
More details on Black Ops 6 are coming later today as part of the CoD showcase.
