The Alabama football team needed a great performance from Bryce Young to be able to compete with Georgia. Young showed up and is having a Heisman moment.
Alabama football’s Bryce Young is performing at a remarkably high level against a historically good defense with some of the highest stakes possible. Young is almost certainly having his Heisman moment as the Crimson Tide clashes with the Georgia Bulldogs.
In the first half against the Bulldogs, Young threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns while also running for 40 yards and another score. He’s been remarkable on seemingly every single opportunity, showing up and helping Alabama score 24 points in one quarter against a defense that typically permits fewer than seven points a game.
What Young is doing will put Alabama in perfect position to compete for a national title and he’s been playing at this level for most of the year.
It just happens that now he’s doing it against the best defense in the country on an enormous stage in a game with incredible stakes. He’s performing at an impressive level when his team needs him the most.

With what the Crimson Tide is able to do offensively because of Young, Alabama looks better than just about any other team that is trying to sneak into the College Football Playoff.
Coming into the SEC Championship Game, Georgia was giving up just 230.9 total yards of offense per game. Alabama, just two minutes into the third quarter of this game, has 440 yards. Young has thrown for 350 of them.
He has put Alabama in position to win this game against a great team. He’s got Alabama in the midst of the College Football Playoff discussion.
He should be the clear choice for this year’s Heisman Trophy.
