The highly anticipated sequel to Nintendo’s 2017 smash hit, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, has been hit with an unsurprising shift in release date as Nintendo confirmed via Twitter that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will no longer be releasing in 2022.

The initial release window of 2022 was always a tall order. Still very much in the midst of a COVID world, developers around the globe have been struggling to get projects out on time. Couple that with the huge expectations for a game as huge as Breath of the Wild 2, a delay was inevitable.

Breath Of The Wild 2 Release Date Delayed

The news came in the form of a Tweet featuring a video from The Legend of Zelda series producer, Eiji Aonuma, in which he explains that the team is no longer aiming for a 2022 release and has instead pushed the release date back to Spring 2023.

There’s also some sneaky footage of the game at the very end, featuring a look at series protagonist Link as well as some of the aerial exploration coming to the sequel.
