Do you need help to lane against Urgot in League of Legends? Not to worry, here are the best champions to help you climb the LoL ladder.
Urgot has once again risen up the ranks and is one of the strongest Top Laners right now in League of Legends. His all-round game makes him the perfect champion to play. He is tanky, he can side-lane against almost anyone, his ultimate has an execute, and he can engage by himself. The question is, how do you counter Urgot? ESTNN brings you the best three counters to Urgot in League of Legends.
Olaf
The ultimate lane bully, Olaf is one of the better champions to pick into Urgot and dominate the lane with. Olaf’s Q is a great tool for constantly poking Urgot. The key to avoiding as much damage as possible in this lane is to wait for Urgots legs to not have explosives on them, as when they do, auto attacks do far more damage and will also slow Olaf. The way to play this lane once the ultimate comes online is to bait out Urgots E, which flips you and stuns you temporarily, or time your ultimate with his, which means you become untouchable. Once Urgot Dash is out of the equation, he is quite vulnerable so this is the best time to try and kill him, or at least shove him out of the lane.
Dr. Mundo
Dr.Mundo is one of the most frustrating matchups for Urgot in League of Legends. He is essentially unkillable after his first item and can easily shove Urgot back with his cleaver, which can be used at will to poke you out of the lane. Even if Urgot rushes to level his W first, which means he can constantly use the ability, by that time, Dr.Mundo has become too tanky for Urgot to deal with him. Even if Urgot engages onto you, you have enough sustainability with your ultimate and can just run away. There shouldn’t be at any point an opportunity for Urgot to kill you with his ultimate, as you will not get low enough in health for the execute to happen.
Twisted Fate
AD Twisted Fate has become one of the more popular picks in the Top Lane right now in League of Legends. Twisted Fate has the range advantage in this matchup, so he should not be under any threat of getting killed. As Urgot looks to engage, you can use your Gold Card on him to stun him and simply run away. On top of that, you are able to poke him down with your auto attacks and your E passive, along with sustaining in the lane with Blue Card to provide you with mana constantly. On top of that, TF can get to fights quicker and also catch out the enemy Jungler, thanks to his ultimate, a lot quicker than Urgot trying to use Teleport.
Worst Champion To Pick Into Urgot In League of Legends
K’Sante is statistically the worst champion in the Top Lane to go up against Urgot in League of Legends. Urgot is simply too powerful and can harras K’Sante whenever he looks to go for any minions. On top of that, while K’Sante gains a lot of damage with his ultimate, it leaves him very squishy, which means if he cannot kill Urgot quickly, they will get the better of K’Sante as he will likely be in execute range. For Urgot, a quick pitstop to get some Armor pen will go a long way in this match-up against K’Sante. He will want to build and stack up Armor very quickly, so look to build in a way that can break through all of his armor. Potentially, a Black Cleaver, which is a viable choice for Urgot anyway, is the route to go in this lane.
Malphite is another champion who does not often perform well against Urgot. Urgot has many ways of breaking Malphite’s passive while not really taking that much damage from him once the components for your first item start being built. The way you can force Malphite out of lane is by hitting him with your Q, flipping him with E and applying your ultimate. He will likely ultimate away himself, but if you have Ghost and or flash you will be able to chase him down, potentially with your ultimate still up.
