What is the best Diablo 4 Spiritborn build? The first Diablo 4 expansion is nearly upon us, bringing with it new bosses, items, and most importantly, the Spiritborn class. Hailing from the jungles of Nahantu, the Spiritborn’s incredible versatility stems from its expert level hand-to-hand skills, Spirit Guardians, and deadly Glaive.

Added with the first Diablo 4 DLC – for which you should read our Vessel of Hatred review – the Spiritborn is one of the best Diablo 4 classes for anyone who wants a flexible class in Diablo 4 that can truly do it all. While you can – and should – dedicate yourself to one or two spirit guides at level 15, you don’t have to, so you can utilize all four spirit guides if you so wish. Having jumped straight into the Spiritborn class as soon as we could, here are our favorite Diablo 4 builds for the Vessel of Hatred character type.

Best Diablo 4 Spiritborn build

The best Diablo 4 Spiritborn build combines the powers of the Centipede and Eagle paths to create a powerful crowd-control build with a deadly final blow.

To accomplish this, the Centipede needs to be the primary Spirit Guardian, and the Eagle’s crowd control skills allow you to poison as many enemies as possible before destroying them all with the Centipede’s Ultimate.

While the best Spiritborn build below only utilizes one Eagle skill, it’s an incredibly important one, gathering all nearby enemies in a vortex and bringing them into your area of attack. This allows the Centipede’s attacks to poison more enemies before dispersing them once again.

How do I use the best D4 Spiritborn build?

Here’s how to play the best Diablo 4 Spiritborn build:

  • Start by using Withering Fist and Stinger in quick succession to gain and spend Vigor while keeping nearby enemies poisoned and thus increasing the damage dealt to them.
  • Vortex then pulls nearby enemies into you, which allows Toxic Skin to take greater effect, poisoning enemies that attack you.
  • At this point, use Scourge to push the enemies away with Fearm while also applying further poisoning, which plays into our final kill move with The Devourer.
  • The Devourer, which must be upgraded to Exalted Devourer, instantly kills any nearby, poisoned, non-boss enemies. Having used the moves above to deal poison as many enemies as possible, The Devourer has a great effect at ridding the area of most foes. Especially with a host of passives increasing damage, poisoning damage, and the spread of poison.

Whether you’re a solo player looking to clear the campaign on your own, or you’re partying with mates to help you on your adventure, the Spiritborn’s versatility is arguably its biggest strength. You’ll need to think carefully about the Spiritborn skill tree, as well as the matter of picking the right Spirit Guardians.

How to get Spirit Guardians

Once you reach level 15, speaking to Tarka at the Spiritborn emissary in Gea Kul unlocks the Sacred Hunt quest. Complete this quest to unlock Spirit Hall, the Spiritborn’s main class mechanic.

There are four Spirit Animals to pick from, each providing the Spiritborn with a different element, specialty, and passive ability to help you in combat. You’re able to pick a primary and secondary Spirit Guardian when creating a build to mix and match abilities. It’s also possible to pick the same Spirit Guardian twice to double down on your build’s strengths.

Here’s a list of the Spiritborn Spirit Guardians and what they do:

  • Centipede (Balazan): the Centipede represents the cycle of death, concentrating on abilities that make it easy to crowd control using various poisons.
  • Eagle (Kwatli): the most mobile of the guardians, the Eagle specializes in both mid-range combat and evasion at close range.
  • Jaguar (Rezoka): the embodiment of the Hunter, delivering constant pressure that rewards the Spiritborn with enhanced attack speed.
  • Gorilla (Wumba): focusing on protection and durability, this guardian can withstand taking damage while performing attacks of its own.

With the best Spiritborn build above, the strongest primary Spiritborn Spirit Guardian is the Centipede, alongside the Eagle as the secondary spirit. That said, there are plenty of alternative options if you’re looking for something a little different. Almost as powerful is a Gorilla-Jaguar combination, which is more of a tank than the build above, so is great for team play.

Now you can kit yourself out with the best Diablo 4 Spiritborn build, you’ll be unstoppable against even the largest of jungle hordes in the action RPG game. Many more mechanics have been added alongside the Spiritborn class, including Diablo 4 mercenaries and the return of D4 runewords, giving even more reasons to re-enter Sanctuary.
