Belt It is a puzzle game about strapping items into vehicles. You’ve got a handful of belts, a handful of connection points and a bunch of boxes, dummies and other items that you need to keep into place. It’s a simple idea, but there are a few things you’re going to have to learn if you want to make the most out of the experience.
That’s where this strategy guide comes in. We’ve played a good chunk of the game and discovered a whole bunch of hints, tips and tricks that we think are going to help you out. Follow these strategies and watching boxes fly out of the back of your van is going to be a thing of the past.
Whether you’re new to belter life or you’ve been strapping things in for a while, there’s going to be something here that will help you out. So let’s get on with it, shall we? Here are the best hints, tips and cheats for Belt It.
Look where the items join
The most important part of any puzzle is where the items connect. These are the weak points where things are most likely to go wrong. When you’re belting up, make sure that you’ve got all of them covered otherwise you’re going to find yourself having to replay the level.
Know the difference
The levels in the back of the truck are slightly different to the ones in the back of the car. With the truck you need to protect against acceleration. With the car you need to protect against a sudden braking at the end of the countdown. The braking is more violent, so be sure to make the strongest links you can.
Crosses are bosses
A lot of the time you’re going to want to be crossing over your belts to get the strongest protection. It isn’t always the case – you’re going to want to make sure you’re covering all the weak points – but crossed belts often offer the best chance for finishing a level, especially in the back of the car.
Think about how the dummies flop
If you’ve failed a car level with a dummy, think about how that dummy moved under braking. Where in your belted structure did it slip through? Try and make corrections to make sure it doesn’t happen again, and always consider where a dummy might flop while you’re building up your net of belts.
Make sure everything is covered
Sometimes there are levels with tricky items you might not notice – piles of clothes, potted plants and so on. When you’ve added your belts, take a moment to double check that everything that needs to be covered is covered. It’s bad to fail levels, it’s worse to fail them because you weren’t paying attention.
