Battlefield rival Delta Force marks new chapter with two game-changing weapons

Whether it’s Battlefield or EFT, Rainbow Six Siege or CoD, guns on their own are never enough. The world of the modern multiplayer FPS is frighteningly competitive – despite plenty of experience with 1.6 and CSGO, I still get obliterated in Counter-Strike 2, and I daren’t even try The Finals. You need more than just good aim these days. It’s about reflexes, knowledge, and mixing your rifle with the right equipment. One of the biggest new Steam shooters of 2025 so far, the next chapter of Delta Force will soon go live. With an expanded arsenal and a litany of new tech designed to add layers to combat, PCGamesN gets an exclusive look at two game-changing weapons.

So far, Team Jade’s spiritual revival of the classic ‘00s FPS game has planted some pretty solid roots, hitting 100,000 concurrent players pretty much every day. A credible alternative to Battlefield, and totally free to play, as well as multiplayer Delta Force also boasts a complete co-op campaign, which went live back in February. The next update, slated for release on Monday April 21, introduces a new operator, night combat, and a smaller-scale version of the Warfare game mode. It also brings two additions to your weapon arsenal, which Team Jade has previewed to us exclusively.

First up, there’s the tactical flashbang. Any FPS player worth their XP will be familiar with this one – toss it into a room, and shortly after it makes contact with a solid surface, it will explode, temporarily blinding and deafening your enemies so you can put them down without resistance. Less conventional is the Whirlwind Disc. Throw this towards an opponent and as it flies through the air it will lock onto them. Once it reaches your foe, it will burst, releasing dozens of fragmentation shards that slow down your target and any other enemy combatants caught inside the blast radius.

It inflicts bleeding damage, but the main effect of the Whirlwind Disc is to limit your targets’ movement so they’re easier to shoot. Combine it with the flashbang and…well, maybe that’s overkill, but all is fair in love and war. If you want to find out more about the new Delta Force update, Team Jade is hosting a stream on Saturday April 12 at 12pm PST / 3pm EST / 8pm GMT / 9pm CET where it will share more details of the shooter’s upcoming chapter. You can tune in right here.
