With Battlefield 2042 just days away from entering open beta, DICE has been explaining how it will be dealing with one of the biggest scourges of multiplayer games: cheaters. In a commitment to positive play and a community charter, DICE explained how it will be using the Easy-Anti Cheat system to detect cheating. Once cheaters have been detected, they’ll be permanently banned from Battlefield 2042 across all platforms and this will be done without warning. The Easy-Anti Cheat system has already been used successfully in Apex Legends and Star Wars Squadrons, but the team won’t be solely relying upon it. Players are asked to report anyone they see breaking the rules and this can be done in-game or through EA Help. Those who have reported cheaters will be notified DICE has received the report and will also be told if action has been taken against the cheater. Players can also report instances of harassment, resulting in a temporary suspension for the perpetrator unless they are a repeat offender, at which point bans could be permanent.Any potential instances of cheating will be assessed by “teams dedicated to preventing, identifying, and sanctioning cheaters.” Due to the team’s no tolerance policy towards cheating, there won’t be any warnings or temporary suspensions. Instead, those found to be cheating will be permanently banned across all of the game’s platforms due to the game’s cross-play functionality. If this means they’re banned mid-match then so be it.DICE will be working constantly to prevent cheaters from ruining the game. This means they’ll be countering any third-party cheat systems that appear once the game has launched and providing “multiple layers of defense” to make sure the game remains fair for everyone. The Easy-Anti Cheat system will also be in place for the game’s open beta that’s due to start on October 6, and remain in effect when Battlefield 2042 launches fully on November 19.[Source: EA (1, 2)]
