While players have been able to unlock Baldur’s Gate 3 achievements since December, Larian’s hit RPG has actually been around far longer on PC and PS5, thanks to some issues with split-screen on the Xbox Series S, holding it back on Microsoft’s platform. As such, the Xbox RPG is now celebrating its first anniversary, and to mark the occasion, Larian Studios has been sharing some brilliant Baldur’s Gate 3 statistics. We’ve also delved into our Xbox achievement data to see what nuggets of fun we could dig up about player habits.Baldur’s Gate 3 player statistics reveal exciting player habitsAs Baldur’s Gate 3 celebrates its first anniversary, Larian Studios has posted a lengthy thread on X with a selection of statistics from all players across Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. While many are fun glimpses into players’ adventures in Faerûn, such as the revelation that 1.9 million players have been turned into a cheese wheel or that 658,000 players have slept with Halsin — almost 200,000 of those players chose to have sex with his bear form — it also offers us a bit of insight into players habits, successes, and failures. When it comes to character creation, it likely comes as no surprise that Asterion has been the most chosen Origin character to use as an avatar, but over 93% of players have gone with a custom character, 15% of which chose Dark Urge. Larian also reveals that the Paladin is the top class choice, while Elves are at the top of the list of favorite races. As for gameplay, looking at global Xbox achievement data just 15% of Xbox players (22% of TrueAchievements members) who have started the game have managed to complete Baldur’s Gate 3 at least once for the All’s Well That Ends Well achievement. While Larian doesn’t provide any stats on that one, the developer does share some interesting information about the Honour Mode difficulty. Over 141,000 players across all platforms have completed it, while 1.2 million have met their demise. Looking at Xbox alone, data for the Foehammer achievement reveals that less than 0.6% of global Xbox players (1.8% of TrueAchievements members) have managed to pull through Honour Mode for a win.So, how have players decided to end the game? Well, Larian says 1.8 million players betrayed the Emperor, and 3.3 million destroyed the Netherbrain, 200,000 of which blew themselves up as Gale. One mind-blowing stat also shared by Larian is that just 34 players playing as Avatar Lae’zel decided to kill themselves at the end of the game for having their ascension rejected by Vlaakith — wild! Looking at data, 16.5% of Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox players (23.5% of TrueAchievements members) destroyed the Netherbrain for the Hero of the Forgotten Realms achievement, while 3% of players (6.6% of TrueAchievements members) have been naughty enough to take control of the Netherbrain for the Absolute Power achievement.Of course, Baldur’s Gate 3 has far more going for it than defeating brains and slogging through ultra-difficult modes, such as romancing characters and petting critters, so let’s end this with a bit of fun. Larian shares that Shadowheart has received 27 million kisses, with Asterion in second place with 15 million kisses. 1.1 million players have “got down with the Emperor,” which we also have a bit of data for thanks to the Mind Blown achievement, which reveals that 9.2% of Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox players (13% of TrueAchievements members) have managed to romance the Emperor for a night of royal fun. As for taking the time to chill with some furry critters, Larian says 141,000 players have attempted to pet His Majesty the cat, over 120 million players have petted Scratch, and over 41 million players have petted the Owlbear cub. Looking at the data for the You Have Two Hands for a Reason achievement, 22% of Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox players (27% of TrueAchievements members) have managed to get Scratch and the Owlbear cub close enough to be petted at the same time. Additionally, 30.4% of BG3 Xbox players (40% of TrueAchievements members) took the time to play fetch with Scratch for the Fetch Quest achievement. While Larian’s time with Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming to an end, we do have “two very ambitious RPGs” to look forward to from the developer in the future.
