It feels as though we’ve been forlornly gazing at all the Baldur’s Gate 3 fun for quite some time, waiting as patiently as we can for it to come to Xbox. We know the Xbox release date reveal will happen soon, but Larian Studios has also just announced the Deluxe Edition, which includes a physical version of the game for Xbox, and which arrives early next year.The Deluxe Edition is priced at $79.99 on Larian Studios’ site and includes a physical version of the game (three discs for Xbox Series X). The other physical bits include a Mind Flayer poster, two patches, 32 stickers, a cloth world map, three CDs for the game’s original soundtrack, and a collectable game box. The digital goodies include the Digital Deluxe content, such as the Divinity item pack, the Bard Song pack, an exclusive dice skin, a collection of paintings from Rivellon, an Adventurer’s Pouch with camp supplies and potions, the digital soundtrack, the digital artbook, and digital character sheets.“This experiment is what we feel the future of physical media looks like, at least for us at Larian. We spent the last few months learning how to do it from scratch, and put everything we learned from the Collector’s Edition into what we hope is unbeatable value for what we’re considering our standard physical version going forward. If it works out, we’ll keep doing it this way,” said Larian Studios’ director of publishing Michael Douse (thanks, IGN). “We understand the value of physical media, and while there are clearly increasingly significant challenges when it comes to the archiving of games, we truly believe it’s worth experimenting, even if it means a f**k ton of discs.”The Baldur’s Gate 3 Deluxe Edition is currently expected to ship in Q1 2024. In the meantime, we know that Baldur’s Gate 3 will launch on Xbox in December, with the specific release date to be revealed at The Game Awards on December 7.
