Avatar Frontiers of Pandora is still a way off and isn’t set to arrive until December 7, but Ubisoft has now shared a new look at the game’s story in a vivid trailer all about learning the ways of the Na’vi.Ubisoft drops Avatar Frontiers of Pandora story trailerAt first look, this trailer doesn’t seem to tell us much that we didn’t already know — the game takes place after the first Avatar film. The RDA (Resources Development Administration) had progressed to the Western Frontier, where one of its leaders, John Mercer, abducted a group of Na’vi children in order to raise them to fight their own people. The RDA abandons these plans during the Battle of the Hallelujah Mountains and decides to kill all the Na’vi children, who are saved by their teacher and put into cryosleep. Our character wakes up after 15 years and, knowing nothing of the Na’vi world, has to learn their ways, gain the trust of the clans, and fight the RDA.However, the story trailer, together with a PlayStation Blog post from Ubisoft editorial communications manager Chastity Vicencio, tells us more. Our character is one of the “respected” Sarentu clan, which had been thought lost a long time ago. It seems this heritage is one of the factors which convince a Na’vi woman in the trailer to help us.We had also heard about some of the game’s clans before: the clan of weavers known as the Aranahe from the Kinglor Forest, the nomads of the Zeswa clan of the Upper Plains, and the Kame’tire, a clan of healers living in the Clouded Forest. It seems the Aranahe will teach us to bond with an ikran (the flying pterodactyl-like creatures we see in the movies), and we see this in more detail in the trailer above, which shows our character learning to leap off cliffs and call to their ikran to catch them. The Zeswa will teach us to ride direhorses, and we see more of these creatures above too. The trailer also shows us taking the fight to the RDA, when we’ll use both what we learned from the RDA and from the Na’vi to fight.
