Some interesting drone companies join the US Department of Defense list of entities which qualify as Chinese military companies.
While Autel is likely to garner the most immediate attention, other Chinese drone manufacturers are also impacted by this listing. Companies like CH UAV and AVIC, known for larger-scale projects, and JOUAV, a prominent player in the small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) market, are also included.
Being placed on the Entity List has several significant consequences:
Restricted Procurement: The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) is prohibited from purchasing any goods or services directly from these companies. This severely limits their access to the lucrative U.S. defense market.
Supply Chain Disruptions: The DoD may impose restrictions on the use of components or technologies sourced from these companies, even if they are not direct suppliers to the DoD. This can disrupt supply chains for other companies and potentially increase costs.
Increased Scrutiny: Companies on the Entity List will face heightened scrutiny from the U.S. government. This includes potential investigations into their activities to ensure compliance with U.S. laws and regulations.”
