An Australian swim coach could not contain himself while celebrating Ariarne Titmus’ dramatic win over Katie Ledecky in the 400m freestyle.

The most hyped swim of the 2021 Olympics delivered on the drama as Ariarne Titmus came from behind to defeat reigning Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky in the 400m freestyle.

Titmus’ reaction to winning gold was tame compared to her coach, who was caught by cameras unleashing the most intense celebration you’ll ever see.

The clip defies description. Just watch it.

Arguably the best part of that clip is the poor official in the arena trying to figure out how to deal with the coach during his celebration.

Ariarne Titmus’ swim coach lost his mind celebrating her gold

The Olympics are a celebration of athletic prowess, but really, they’re all about human emotions. There are highs and lows. If Titmus’ swim deserved a gold, that coach deserves a gold for his passionate response to the victory.

Titmus is participating in her first Olympic games at 20 years old. The 400m freestyle was her first medal, but it doesn’t look like it’ll be her last considering her impressive results over the last couple of years.

She unseated Ledecky at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships and was expected to be the American’s biggest challenger at the Tokyo Olympics.

However, gold was never a sure thing. For one, Ledecky is the most decorated women’s swimmer in Olympic history and she wasn’t going to go down without a fight. Ledecky out-qualified Titmus, setting up a nailbiter of a race.

Titmus trailed for the first half of the race. She closed the gap and managed to out-swim Ledecky in the final lengths to beat her by less than a stroke.

Cameras should be on that coach again when Titmus competes in the 200m freestyle and 800m freestyle as the Olympics continue.
