Assassin’s Creed Mirage goes back to basics, may entice estranged fans

Ubisoft revealed Assassin’s Creed Mirage in its Assassin’s Creed showcase, adding that it will focus on stealth, parkour, and assassinations, going “back to the roots” of the Assassin’s Creed franchise.Assassin’s Creed Mirage has now been officially revealed. Revolving around Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Basim, Mirage will be set in Baghdad and will take place 20 years before Valhalla.Assassin’s Creed Mirage revealed with a 2023 release windowAssassin’s Creed Mirage takes place a few decades before Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It’s set in Baghdad — we’ll apparently have four districts to explore — and charts Basim’s transformation from a street thief to a master assassin under the guidance of his mentor, Roshan.It’s a narrative-driven game that goes “back to the roots” of Assassin’s Creed with a focus on stealth, parkour, and assassinations. Its narrative structure will apparently be closer to that of older Assassin’s Creed games, with the devs describing it as “condensed” and more linear. We’ll go to Alamut, the base of the Hidden Ones, for the first time in an Assassin’s Creed game. Basim will apparently learn how to mark multiple targets for stealth assassinations, and can make use of mines and blowdarts to help with stealth. He will also have a new upgradeable tool. The game’s parkour will include things like pole vaulting and swinging around corners, with a lot of space to hide on roofs. Basim’s eagle will be more important, but can also be shot down by certain enemies.Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set to launch in 2023 and is apparently available to preorder now for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, with standard, deluxe, and collector’s editions available.
