We had a new look at Ark: Survival Ascended, the remake of Ark: Survival Evolved, during the Xbox Partner Preview event. Developer Studio Wildcard announced the game’s PC launch at the same time, confirming that it had been delayed on consoles until November. Now, Studio Wildcard has shared an update on Ark: Survival Ascended’s console release, apologising for the delay and explaining its reasons.”While continuing our internal quality assurance process for ASA, our team identified some critical issues in the multiplayer version of the game that would have had major implications for the console versions of the game. Unfortunately, due to these issues, we’ve decided to delay the launch of the Xbox and PlayStation versions of the game until November,” Studio Wildcard says. The Ark: Survival Ascended release info wasn’t shown during the trailer for the Xbox Partner Preview showcase, nor the accompanying Xbox Wire post, but in the description for the trailer shared to the Ark: Survival Evolved YouTube channel.”We understand that this news is disappointing, and trust us, we’re disappointed too. The team really did aim to get everything out for all platforms in October, but we fell short just at the finish line. We’re sorry about that, as we know a lot of you have been very excited about this launch and made plans around it.”The devs add that they’re working on “two tracks” with one handling the PC launch and the other working on a patch for the console version. “The additional time lets us resolve those specific multiplayer issues and bring the game up to the PC specification, which received a number of critical improvements as the console versions were going through certification.”Studio Wildcard adds that it’s still planning to have crossplay between Steam and consoles disabled “until we’ve entered the quicker certification process, but that decision could change based on how things are looking with PC at the time.” They also say that the console launch should be smoother due to the delay, since they’ll have had time to iron out issues with the PC launch. When the game does come to consoles, there will be temporary bonus rates on “a fresh set of official servers” to let players catch up. “We know that this news is far from ideal, however we’ll be doing our best to make the game as good as it can be when it launches in November,” Studio Wildcard concludes. “We are really grateful for the support and cannot wait to get ASA with cross-platform mods into your hands!”If you’re looking to find out what else happened at last night’s event, you can check out our round-up of everything announced at the Xbox Partner Preview showcase.
