Ariane Lipski believes her recent defeats will help expedite her growth as she looks to improve her grappling ahead of UFC Vegas 37.

UFC women’s flyweight Ariane Lipski is done stressing over her current losing skid. Instead, the Brazilian is focused on growing as a fighter with each Octagon appearance.

As she prepares to face Mandy Bohm at UFC Vegas 37, Lipski has made a few adjustments in her preparation that she feels will yield positive results inside the cage. During her pre-fight interview, Lipski explained her current mindset regarding the recent results.

“I try to see my last two fights as a challenge that makes me grow faster than if I choose a different fighter,” Lipski said. “I’m fighting with the tops of my division since my debut in the UFC. It’s a harder way, but it’s the way I grow faster. That’s it, I’m a fighter, I’ll never not do this because I lost. I just try to fight and be the best I can.”

Lipski has suffered back-to-back TKO defeats at the hands of Antonina Shevchenko and Montana De La Rosa. The results caused her to seek out new training partners and thus a different gym.

“After my fight against Antonina, my coach told me you need different partners,” she stated. “More partners to help me and put me in different situations that you have to be prepared for. Then, we went to Florida and everything happened right and we started training at American Top Team, the biggest MMA gym in the world.”

“There’s so many fighters from every place. A lot of different games and a lot of different situations. This makes me prepared. There’s so many great coaches, so many great fighters to be inspired from. So everything that I’m doing to be better, I’m doing.”

As she continues to gain confidence in her ground game, Lipski feels as though that will allow her to strike more freely without fear of being taken down.

“When I feel much more confident with my grappling I will feel much more confident and able to show my striking skills,” Lipski confirmed. “Because I didn’t show it yet in UFC because of the grappling and the wrestling.”

“But now I’m getting confident. I feel like my body is getting used to the right movements at the right time and for this fight, I will try to defend the takedown and show my striking.”

UFC Vegas 37 is a very important fight for Lipski as she attempts to put a stop to her losing streak.

UFC Vegas 37 takes place on Saturday, Sept. 18, live from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, NV. Follow along with FanSided MMA, who is on-site, for all your live results and highlights.
