2025 is a big year for the tactical FPS and extraction genre. Stalwarts like Escape From Tarkov are still finding success, while newer releases like Gray Zone Warfare and Delta Force are trying to carve out their permanent spot on the podium. Then there’s Arena Breakout Infinite. With early access well underway and a Steam release planned, developer MoreFun Studios has some big ABI plans for this year. You can expect a new map, more game modes, some much-requested nerfs, and even some huge changes to the current monetization system as well.
Since launch players have been requesting an Arena Breakout Infinite solo mode. The extraction FPS game is built around playing with a team, but MoreFun is aware that many players want to at least try grabbing loot on their own. That’s why, as part of a new 2025 roadmap video, MoreFun explains what it has planned for the upcoming game mode.
“We’ve heard your requests for a solo mode,” Arena Breakout Infinite associate producer ‘Dave’ says. “In the next update, we’ll be rolling it out as an experimental feature. While we don’t think it will solve all the issues with team-based play, we hope this test will provide valuable insights.”
You can also expect even more game modes throughout 2025. Multiple competitive options like elimination and team deathmatch are on the way, but MoreFun adds that these will each have “our own unique twist.” There’s even going to be Secure Ops, which does away with the stress of extraction games by letting you keep your gear, even if you die during the raid.
There’s more than just new content coming this year, too, as MoreFun is again nerfing the T7 Thermal Goggles. Since the start of early access players have been telling MoreFun that the thermal mechanic is incredibly overpowered, making it super easy for the user to spot enemies from a distance and take them out. That’s why the team is tweaking thermals down yet again, making them even more situational.
“We’re further nerfing thermals by removing their ability to see through scopes,” Dave explains. “This change aligns more closely with a realistic setting, and we also believe it’s a fitting adjustment from a gameplay experience.”
Thermals aren’t the only thing getting changed in the upcoming update. MoreFun is optimizing spawn points, extraction points, and even raid player counts to further refine your experience. Sound accuracy is also being improved, so you should have a better time listening out for enemies when the pressure kicks in.
MoreFun also hears all your friendly fire concerns and will be reducing the damage throwables do to teammates, while the team is “currently discussing the handling of issues like loot stealing and other toxic behavior.”
You’ll even be playing in the new map Northridge this year, as MoreFun confirms that it plans to add it to Arena Breakout Infinite alongside new story content and bosses. You can either venture into the Northridge Hotel itself for tense gunfights, or head to the outskirts for what Dave calls a “quieter experience.”
Dave also acknowledges that Arena Breakout Infinite’s current monetization system feels “fragmented,” and confirms some big changes to purchases are on the way. Membership, cases, and keychains will all be merged moving forward to “simplify the experience.” If you’re a current paying player don’t worry, because this change won’t impact your benefits, and compensation is even planned to “ensure fairness.” Perhaps most interestingly, however, Dave says MoreFun is aware of how many players dislike the randomized gacha mechanics, with plans to offer another purchase method.
“We’ve heard feedback about gacha mechanics, especially for melee weapons and gun skins introduced in Season 1. Many players prefer direct purchase options, and we’re working to include these in the next update.”
