Hideo Kojima has revealed he was once thinking of creating a project with a similar concept to The Boys, and the idea of a game has captured the imagination of Homelander actor Antony Starr. Both he and showrunner Eric Kripke want to collaborate with Kojima to create a game based on the hit TV show. The likelihood of a game based on The BoysOne of the things many people don’t realise about game development is just how many projects don’t make it to release, and some of those never even make it past the concept stage. Over the weekend, Kojima described one such project, which would have featured “a buddy (male/female) thing with a special detective squad facing off against legendary heroes behind the scenes.” The intention was to feature Mads Mikkelsen in the lead role. Despite the project having “different settings and tricks,” Kojima felt the idea behind it was just too similar to that of The Boys TV series.1/2Today, when superheroes continue to be mass-produced in the entertainment industry, this drama was to be a radical hard-boiled action film, neither hero nor villain, with an astonishingly black joke setup and a worldview that is the opposite of what we are used to. https://t.co/L1xily8XII— HIDEO_KOJIMA (@HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN) June 26, 2022While many assumed this project to be a game, Kojima later clarified how the project was to be a “radical hard-boiled action film, neither hero nor villain, with an astonishingly black joke setup and a worldview that is the opposite of what we are used to.” Despite this, Kripke appealed to Hideo Kojima to “please come make a The Boys game”, a notion seconded by Starr. However, as noted by GameRant, neither Kojima nor his studio, Kojima Productions, have replied to the appeals, and the likelihood of Kojima creating a game based on an Amazon Prime TV show is pretty slim.In other news, the PS Plus app on PC is having a lot of problems as many games are missing from the list and others can’t be started. Elsewhere, Ubisoft has confirmed they’ll be appearing at Gamescom and many are hoping they’ll bring a new Assassin’s Creed game with them.
