Anthony Kim posted his opinion on his official X account against Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TGL on January 8, 2025. The 39-year-old has been competing for LIV Golf since last year.
TGL started its first season at the SoFi Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. In a post on X, Kim questioned some of the media coverage LIV Golf has received compared to TGL. This statement came shortly after the first round of TGL that took place on January 7.
“So @livgolf_league isn’t real golf but @TGL is. @TGL could B gr8 4 the game of golf & I hope it succeeds. Corrupt media gonna talk out of both of their mouths now,” Anthony Kim wrote.
Apart from the golfer, some fans also shared their opinions on the matter in the comments section under his post.
“I’d love to see LIV vs PGA matchups on the TGL”, one user wrote.
“LIV is far more enjoyable,” another one wrote under the tweet from Anthony Kim.
“As a golf fan & not able 2 play outside due to below freezing temps, I love it! It’s different & I was actually excited about it. The technology, graphics, green manipulations, fans etc. I’ll definitely watch again & would love 2 play it! More power to @TGL Alex Brown nvr home!”, a user said.
Anthony Kim made this statement days after a new claim came up about TGL players’ contracts. Apparently, the contracts that TGL offered its golfers make it difficult for them to join LIV Golf. On January 5, 2025, Underdog Golf shared a post about this on its official X account. According to the post, Tom Kershaw, a Sports Journalist from The Times, has claimed that TGL golfers won’t be able to join LIV Golf.
“A leading agent says TGL contracts “effectively make it impossible” to join LIV Golf, per @trlkershaw.”
