AMD’s new budget Radeon gaming GPU looks set to tackle the RTX 5060 Ti

After soundly beating the RTX 5070 with the Radeon RX 9070 XT in March 2025, AMD is now reportedly gearing up to offer a new budget gaming GPU that takes aim at the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti. A new leak shows Korean licenses being issued to two Gigabyte graphics cards based on the new AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT GPU, and they show a similar approach to VRAM as the 5060 Ti.

The budget gaming GPU market currently has a wide open space waiting for the next generation, and several rumored GPUs are apparently waiting in the wings to fill it. One of them is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti, which is rumored to be coming in both 8GB and 16GB versions, and the latest leaks suggest that AMD will be taking the same approach with the Radeon RX 9060 XT.

This latest rumor comes courtesy of self-described “Korean PC tech fan” harukaze5719 in a post on X (formerly Twitter). The post links out to several licenses from the Korean National Radio Research Agency that have just been issued for new Gigabyte graphics cards, two of which have “9060XT” in the model name. One of them has “16G” at the end of its name, while the other has “8G” – a very strong indication that there will be two versions of this card.

This follows a very similar leak of the details of two Asus 9060 XT graphics cards earlier in March 2025 from the same source, adding more evidence to the pile that AMD is indeed planning two versions of this graphics card. In this case, the full names of the cards suggest that Gigabyte is planning to release overclocked versions of both 8GB and 16GB 9060 XT cards under its Gaming brand.

This wouldn’t be the first time AMD has made 8GB and 16GB versions of the same graphics card, but its branding is different this time. The Radeon RX 7600 only has 8GB of VRAM, but the company later released the Radeon RX 7600 XT, which has exactly the same GPU but 16GB of memory, and a significant price difference between the two.

In these times when games are demanding ever-increasing amounts of graphics memory to run at top settings, though, AMD may well choose to focus mainly on the 16GB version and give it a competitive price, especially when the latest RTX 5060 Ti price leak suggests the 16GB card will cost just $429.

AMD officially confirmed the existence of Radeon RX 9060 products in the above video in March 2025, but hasn’t revealed any details about specs or pricing yet. I’m excited to see how this plays out, though. We haven’t had a good battle in the budget GPU space for a while, and our Radeon RX 9070 XT review showed AMD is finally offering some superb competition against Nvidia. If it can price the rumored 16GB 9070 XT competitively, then it could win again, assuming there’s actually some decent stock of the new GPUs.
