Taking Grace Items with you into each run gives you the upper hand, at least sometimes. While they have different uses, it’s important to know how they all work!

Grace Items

There aren’t too many items in Grace at the moment, what with the game being in an extremely early Alpha state. However, there are a few items to take note of, as well as collectables.

Flashlight

When you first load into Grace and start a run, there is a flashlight in your inventory (as well as a lantern, but more on that later). The flashlight, as you’d expect, lights up the room, but only slightly. It’s a light source nonetheless, but a dim one at that. Luckily, you can use the M1 button on your mouse to brighten the light for a very short duration.

The flashlight doesn’t require batteries, which is one less thing to worry about when traversing the different rooms. If you hold down the M1 button, the flashlight starts spinning in your hand. As far as we know, this animation has no purpose, though I suppose it could be used to distract entities in the future.

Additionally, you can use the flashlight to scare the Goatman away for a short while, though it comes back to chase you eventually.

Lantern

Now, this item provides a much larger light source than the flashlight, though it eventually runs out, so make sure to use it sparingly. You should only use the lantern if the room is completely shrouded in darkness, as the flashlight does a good job of helping you navigate the way. The lantern can’t be used to deter entities, so its only use is to shed some light. Like the flashlight, a lantern appears in your inventory as soon as you start a run.

Keys

With keys, you can open the mysterious golden lock at the back of the lobby area. You obtain keys every few levels, with the first requiring you to gain 2 levels. Using Keys rewards you with a variety of cosmetic items. In Grace, you can collect and use timers, animations, and soundtracks. You also get the in-game currency, known as Bricks. Though, with the game being in early development, Bricks have no current use.

Notes

As you wander through each room, you may sometimes come across notes. They offer hints or instructions as to what to do when making your way to the next room, or avoiding specific entities, such as the Elkman. Whenever you find one, make sure to pick it up, even if it’s just to look at the cool little doodles scrawled across the paper.

Customisation Items

As mentioned in the section on Keys, you can unlock animations, soundtracks, and timers. As of right now, you can obtain different animations for crouching, sprinting, walking, sliding and standing. There are 2 different timers, one being the default design, and the other featuring a cool animation.
