Fishing is one of the ways you can gather resources in Albion Online. Since this is a different method than the others that are present in the game, an Albion Online fishing guide could prove to be very useful. If you are a novice, you definitely won’t know how this feature works.
In this article, therefore, we will tell you everything you need to know about fishing so that you can approach this aspect of the game with all the necessary information.
Albion Online Fishing Explained
In Albion Online, fishing acts as a sort of mini-game that you can take part in at almost any time. If you want to unplug a bit from the other activities that are present in the game, such as farming, crafting, fighting, etc., you can opt for fishing. But before you can do that, you need to know how it works and what its mechanics are.
How to Fish
It’s trivial to say it, but the first thing you need to be able to fish is obviously a fishing rod. You can either build it or buy it from one of the vendors you will find in the various cities of Albion Online. Once you have a fishing rod in your inventory, all you have to do is approach a body of water, and you will immediately see a fishing bob-shaped icon appear.
At this point, you’ll need to select a location on the water, build up your cast distance, and release when you’re happy with the distance. If done correctly, you will see the bob float right on the water. To understand when a fish has taken the bait, just pay attention to the bob and when it starts to bounce, it means that you are ready to withdraw the line. It is here, therefore, that the mini-game will begin.
This mini-game is very similar to other mini-games that are present in other games when it comes to fishing. What you have to do is actually very simple: you have to ensure that the fishing bob always remains within the green area. Otherwise, the fishing attempt will fail and you will have to start again. With a little practice, you will surely succeed.
Then, when the fish icon reaches the yellow end of the blue bar, this means that you have done everything correctly and therefore the fish (or loot) will be captured and added to your inventory. As you can see, therefore, the actual act of fishing in Albion Online is not very difficult; you just have to get a little familiar with it.
Where to Fish
We have already said that it is possible to fish practically anywhere on the game map, but there are two types of water: fresh water and salt water. The sweet ones are represented by rivers, lakes, etc, while the salty ones are those of the seas. Consequently, there are no real points that we recommend; it is up to you to decide based on the place where you are.
However, we advise you not to stay in one spot for too long. This is because the fish will tend to run away, so it is more useful for you to constantly move so that you always have the possibility of being able to catch something. But to make your fishing even more efficient in Albion Online, there are some precautions you will need to follow.
Fishing Gear
To catch fish, you need a fishing rod. The type of fish you catch depends on the level of your rod. You can also wear fishing gear to catch more fish. The fishing gear helps you catch more fish over time. Better rods make you fish faster and get more bonus fish.
Backpacks
When you’re fishing, wearing a fisherman’s backpack is smart. It makes fish lighter, so you can carry more without getting too heavy.
- T4: Makes T4 fish 20% lighter.
- T5: Makes T5 fish 25% lighter.
- T6: Makes T6 fish 30% lighter.
- T7: Makes T7 fish 35% lighter.
- T8: Makes T8 fish 40% lighter.
Bait
To make the whole fishing process faster, you can use bait. You can make bait from earthworms at a cooking station. Earthworms are found when you harvest crops while farming.
- T1 Simple Fish Bait: 10 times use; makes fish bite 50% faster (needs 1 earthworm to make).
- T3 Fancy Fish Bait: 10 times use; makes fish bite 125% faster (needs 5 earthworms to make).
- T5 Special Fish Bait: 10 times use; makes fish bite 250% faster (needs 25 earthworms to make).
Consumables
If you want to spice up your fishing experience in Albion Online, you can also consider using consumables to gain advantages.
- Seaweed Salad: Increases fishing speed by 10% for 30 minutes.
- T7 Pork Pie: This food doesn’t make you fish faster or make fish bite quicker. But it does make you able to carry 30% more fish, which is helpful.
- T7 Pork Omelette: When fishing where you might lose everything, keep an Omelette with you. If you get attacked, eating it helps you move faster by reducing your cooldowns.
