Alan Wake 2 releases later this week, continuing the story of the original 2010 psychological thriller. For those who can’t get enough of the spooky cult classic, there’s more good news: Alan Wake 2 will be getting a New Game+ mode post launch, complete with an alternate storyline.
The planned mode was announced by the official Alan Wake 2 account on Twitter, with Remedy Games adding that the release timing for the update is still yet to be confirmed. It did share some details about what we can expect from New Game+ in Alan Wake 2, however.
Like in other games, New Game+ will allow players to keep all their unlocked weapons and upgrades from the start of their new playthrough. There’ll also be a new Nightmare difficulty mode, and an alternate narrative is on the way, complete with new Manuscript pages and video content.
Alan Wake 2 continues the story of titular writer Alan Wake over ten years after the original game released. The sequel leans fully into survival horror, while also adding a second playable character into the mix. To catch up on everything that went down in the first game, check out our story recap–including the Alan Wake lore that was introduced as part of Remedy’s Control.
Alan Wake 2 releases on October 27 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
