How to beat Mulligan and Thornton in Alan Wake 2
As often happens in other games, the boss fight against Mulligan and Thornton is divided into two different phases. Each of them has its own characteristics and peculiarities, so you will have to pay close attention not to be caught off guard. Fortunately for you, in this article, we have decided to give you some useful advice to be able to best overcome this clash which will be made even more difficult by the fact that there will be little visibility. As a result, not only will you have to deal with two enemies instead of one, but you won’t even have the chance to study the situation well as visibility will be poor.
Phase 1
The fight will begin when Mulligan and Thornton climb over the wall and head towards you. At this point, what you will have to do first, even before thinking about Mulligan and Thornton, is to hit the distortion that appears on the wall with a Flashlight Boost. In fact, in addition to focusing on your two opponents, you will also have to keep an eye on these distortions that are present throughout the battle arena, as you will not be able to continue in the battle itself if you do not eliminate them.
Therefore, the thing on which you must focus your attention in this first phase of the battle is precisely the distortions present. Of course, it won’t be that simple. One of the two enemies, in fact, will be positioned on a sort of elevated platform made up of rocks with the intent of hitting you from afar. Luckily for you, you can decipher its location thanks to the presence of a red light. Our advice to get the upper hand in this phase is to position yourself behind some rocks so as not to be hit and focus on the distortions. Do not try to shoot the enemy in any way as it will be useless: he will not suffer any type of damage.
Phase 2
Once you have managed to eliminate all the distortions present, the second enemy will enter and Mulligan and Thornton will be united again. In this phase, therefore, you will not only be attacked from afar, but also from up close, so things get decidedly more difficult. However, don’t worry too much about the enemy that just enters the scene, as he is much easier to eliminate than the other. Make use of your shotgun and you will be able to inflict a good amount of damage on him.
Once you have managed to eliminate him, you will have to think about eliminating the enemy above. Be careful not to be hit by his bullets: observe his behavior and dodge the shots. Between the cooldown periods, shoot him to inflict damage using the weapons at your disposal. We advise you to use the pistol or in any case a weapon that is capable of hitting from a further distance than the shotgun you previously used.
In any case, once you have managed to inflict enough damage on the second enemy too, you can definitively put an end to the battle against Mulligan and Thornton and you can finally leave the Coffee World area.
