Zero-emission airborne warehouse and drone hub aim to transform last-mile package deliver
Aeros, an airship-based logistics company, is set to introduce its innovative delivery solution at the 2024 Deliver America Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, from October 10-11. This event, which gathers leaders in retail, e-commerce, and supply chain industries, will be the platform for Aeros to announce the start of a commercial operation demonstration of their Airborne Fulfillment Center (AFC), planned for the first quarter of 2025.
Airborne Fulfillment for Same-Day Delivery
Aeros, along with its 3PL fulfillment partner Shipbots, will showcase the Airborne Fulfillment Center (AFC), a mobile, zero-emission delivery hub designed to change the way last-mile deliveries are handled. The AFC utilizes Aeros’ Electric Variable Buoyancy Airship (eVBA) as both a mobile warehouse and drone hub, allowing for packages to be delivered directly to customers’ doorsteps in under 60 minutes. This solution is particularly beneficial for urban areas, where it offers an efficient alternative to traditional ground-based methods.
According to Aeros, their airships have the capacity to bypass traffic and difficult terrain, offering a swift and eco-friendly approach to package delivery. As stated in the press release:
“One airship delivers 4,000 packages per hour with unmatched affordability and efficiency,” the company highlighted. Furthermore, this approach is expected to replace 110 delivery vans and eliminate 4.5 million pounds of CO2 annually.
Boosting Retailers’ E-Commerce Capabilities
The introduction of Aeros’ airship technology is expected to provide a significant boost for e-commerce retailers, improving both customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. The company claims that adopting the sky delivery service can enhance a retailer’s brand image, positioning it as innovative and socially responsible. As stated in the press release, “AFC offers a unique experience —e-commerce customers will eagerly look forward to their next purchase with sky delivery.”
Lower shipping costs, combined with faster delivery times, are also expected to increase customer commitment and boost online sales conversion rates.
Invitation to Learn More at Deliver America
Conference attendees are invited to visit Aeros and Shipbots at booth A28 to learn more about the Airborne Fulfillment Center and explore how the AFC can optimize their business operations. Additionally, Igor Pasternak, CEO of Aeros, will be giving a speaking session at 11 a.m. on October 11 at the Workshop Studio.
“We’re proud to lead the only FAA-compliant urban drone delivery operation in the world,” said Pasternak. Payam Ahdoot, CEO of Shipbots, added, “With the AFC, we can make delivery vans a thing of the past.”
