The world of Thedas is a complex one. Forged from blood and corrupted by ancient, evil magics, there’s a lot to get your head around ahead of Dragon Age: The Veilguard‘s launch. While there are myriad lore masters on YouTube and TikTok, some of the franchise’s best stories are contained within its spinoff novels and comics, all of which offer nuggets of lore and kernels of long-forgotten truths. As an avid fan, they’re a must-read, and this new Humble Bundle offer gives you some of the best stories for just $18.
While Magekiller and The Silent Grove will always be fan-favorites, my personal choice is Dark Fortress, which centers around my Dragon Age 2 beau, Fenris. Marrying elements of the second game and Dragon Age Inquisition, it gave me my first real vision of what the Tevinter Imperium looked like on the inside – a vision that was realized in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
Then, there’s Hard in Hightown, another Dragon Age 2 throwback. Based on the ever-iconic Varric Tethras’ in-game novel of the same name, we finally get to hear the story of Donnen Brennokovic and his new recruit Jevan, who become embroiled in a noir-inspired crime drama for the ages. The entire novel is illustrated in black and white, too, a feature I absolutely adore.
If you’re looking for more Varric (after all, who isn’t?) 2023’s Dragon Age: The Missing leads directly into the events of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and as a result is the perfect read ahead of the game’s launch.
But it’s not just Dragon Age that’s included in this Humble Bundle. There are several comics inspired by Bioware’s flagship sci-fi saga Mass Effect in here, too.
You can pick up three variations of this bundle; the two issue bundle, then seven, then the entire collection of 18 comics. These set you back $1 / £0.82, $10 / £8.21, and $18 /£14.78 respectively. Just click the link above. You’ll have until Monday, November 11 to pick it up and, in turn, expand your Dragon Age library.
